CS4LDN PROJECT

Strengthening civil society role in achieving land degradation neutrality (LDN)- CS4LDN is an international project managed by Both Ends on behalf of Drynet network, in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Both Ends is the lead executing agency for the project and works in collaboration with its co-executing agency partner, IUCN.

The long-term impact of the project is to achieve well-informed, collaborative, and effective civil societies to provide clear leadership to governments, donors and communities in acquiring and applying critical insights about effective LDN, that includes locally-led initiatives for sustainable land use and restoration. In practice, the project will focus on the development and review of LDN-related policies and programs including informing decision making about funding for LDN.

The collaborative and participatory approach of the project is unique and is intended to contribute to a more inclusive contribution by civil societies to how United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) achieves its objectives.

In this context, Gram Bharati Samiti (GBS), a Drynet network member from India was chosen along with other CSOs across the world to collaborate in the CS4LDN project being implemented for three years period, 2025 to 2027.

GBS was given opportunity to contribute on the following activities as part of CS4LDN project:

  • Publication of a Newsletter
  • Establishment and maintenance of an online portal
  • Identification of CSOs to have relevant advocates in the UNCCD processes
  • Preparation and delivery of Side events at COPs, including in the RIO pavilion
