Mrs. Kusum Lata Jain
Ms. Kusum Jain is a long time social activist worked for many years with leprosy and HIV/AIDS patients. She is the first woman activist coming forward with high spirit and confidence to work in the field of HIV/AIDS in 1991. She has devoted herself to empower the poor rural women through awareness and education and making them economically self-reliant after getting training on “Women’s Empowerment through Entrepreneurship Development” from The Crane field University, U.K. Kusum has been conferred with ‘Award for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life (‘Giving hope to the helpless’) by the Women’s World Summit Foundation, Geneva and was selected as ‘Management Gurus of Rural India’ by SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai under a process of selection for Janakidevi Bajaj Puraskar. She has been elected as Secretary, GBS in 2018. ‘Mahila Shakti Puraskar’ (Women’s Power Award) given by the Ministry of Women and Children’s Development, Government of Rajasthan on 8th March, 2019 on the occasion of ‘World Women’s Day’.

- First woman to work on HIV/AIDS in Rajasthan — 1991
- Restored 6 ancient step wells across Rajasthan
- Formed 780 SHGs involving 8,000+ rural women in 266 villages
- Provided vocational training to 630+ women in weaving, embroidery, shoe-making
- 260 women established household enterprises with bank support
- Planted 83,000 trees on wasteland in Jaipur district
- Rehabilitated 700+ leprosy patients from beggary
