Environment
Environment is a major issue and Gram Bharati Samiti was formed to protect and improve it, focusing on ecological restoration for over 35 years. GBS has been campaigning for forestation on farm boundaries, pasturelands, public/community lands, and reforestation in deforested areas such as denuded hills.

Wasteland development — the Gandhivan project
GBS's pilot project on wasteland development has been recognised and appreciated widely. It is a model project on developing infertile, undulated, and gullied sandy wasteland through a range of conservation techniques.
